Your First Appointment
Please bring with you to your first appointment:
- Insurance card
- Medication list
- Related medical records and X-rays
During your first appointment, your surgeon will perform a thorough evaluation and provide you an initial diagnosis. As part of your evaluation, we make take a low-dose CT image of your face using a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) device. We are able to upload the image to a computer to create a three dimensional image that you and your surgeon can view from different angles. Your surgeon can also use the information to customize the surgery to your specific anatomy. This type of virtual surgery pre-planning minimizes damage to adjacent structures, ensures accuracy and reduces the amount of time required for your procedure.
When It Is Time for Your Surgery
Our patient services coordinator will schedule your surgery. You will receive detailed instructions about what you should and should not do before and after your surgery. These instructions help ensure your safety, so please follow them carefully and talk with our patient services coordinator if you have questions.
Conditions and procedures performed by our maxillofacial surgeons may be covered by either medical or dental insurance. We accept many insurance plans and will work with your insurance company to determine whether your medical or dental plans will cover your treatment plan. We also offer payment options if your insurance does not cover the surgery you require. Please call 206-320-2078 for more information.
Patients Who Live Outside Washington
Swedish is a regional resource for specialty care that may not be available in many communities. Our patients come from throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond, so helpful information is available for those who are traveling to Swedish from out of town and are unfamiliar with the Seattle area.
