Neonatal ICU (NICU)

Of the thousands of babies born at Swedish each year, the vast majority will never see the inside of a neonatal intensive care unit. But for those who need extra attention, our nationally renowned NICU teams are ready to caring for sick or premature babies.

Family Centered Care

Some babies need extra care. The Swedish NICU is family-centered and focused on minimizing suffering and delivering the best quality of life to babies and their families regardless of a newborn’s illness. Our goal is to support families within the NICU and create a seamless transition into the community once a family is discharged.

Our neonatal teams ensure that parents are able to be involved in all aspects of their newborn's care, such as holding, feeding, changing diapers and bathing as their baby's condition improves. As a parent or caregiver, you will have 24-hour access to your baby and are able to visit your baby as often as you wish. In order to ensure the best care for all our babies, we ask that all visitors to the NICU adhere to all facility health guidelines.
