Our Approach

At the Swedish Orthopedic Clinic, our team of doctors and caregivers is committed to helping you move with less pain, return to the activities you love and feel better overall. We’ve recently welcomed two new orthopedic physicians specializing in sports medicine to enhance our expert care for active lifestyles.

We offer specialized treatments and services to ease joint pain, help you recover from injury and enjoy improved mobility. We specialize in a full range of orthopedic surgical care, including joint replacement surgery, other conditions concerning the hand, knee, hip and shoulder and treatment of musculoskeletal tumors.

Our orthopedic and sports medicine surgeons perform advanced and minimally invasive surgeries to fix injuries to joints, bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles. When they are appropriate to use, minimally invasive techniques repair damage through a small incision, which means less pain and a shorter recovery. Many of our patients are able to walk the day of surgery, don’t require a hospital stay and can start the rehabilitation process sooner to get back to their normal life activities.

Every year, we help restore people’s quality of life by performing successful orthopedic procedures. Our treatment teams are led by board-certified orthopedic surgeons and other specialists who are experienced in the following treatments and services:

  • Arthroscopic shoulder surgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Hand therapy
  • Joint replacement surgery for hip, knee and shoulder
  • Joint resurfacing surgery for hip, knee and shoulder
  • MAKO total knee arthroplasty
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Musculoskeletal cancer treatment
  • Surgical tumor removal
  • Sports medicine surgeries

By combining medical expertise and advanced treatment technologies, our orthopedic physicians help treat conditions including:

  • Fractured/broken bones
  • Hand and wrist injuries
  • Joint pain and injuries in the hip, knee and/or shoulder
  • Musculoskeletal tumors
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Sports injuries

You should speak with an orthopedic provider if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Constant or ongoing joint pain and musculoskeletal pain
  • Decreased mobility
  • Difficulty sitting up and down or going up stairs
  • Discomfort after active sports and hobbies
  • Joint pain during certain types of weather
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Past bone injury
  • Stiffness after sleep or sitting

Considering Joint Replacement?

With today’s advancements in surgical techniques and technology, joint replacement is safer and more effective than ever. Many of our patients return to activities that they thought they wouldn't enjoy again – it’s our goal to help you do the same.

We’re invested in your health. Our board-certified surgeons use minimally invasive techniques that help reduce your pain, improve mobility and assist with a faster recovery. From pre-surgery education to post-surgical rehabilitation, we ensure that you feel informed and cared for during every stage of your recovery.

Joint pain shouldn’t interfere in your daily life. When you’re ready to consider joint replacement surgery, our expert team is here to discuss all aspects of surgery with you.

We specialize in:

  • Hip, knee and shoulder replacements
  • Hip, knee and shoulder resurfacing
  • Joint revision procedures
  • Reverse total shoulder replacement

At the forefront of the field, our orthopedic surgeons have pioneered new prosthetics and techniques to make each surgery a highly effective treatment choice.

Get more information about what to expect during joint replacement surgery.

  • Partial knee replacement: A minimally invasive knee surgery done through a small incision; typically, a faster recovery when compared to total knee replacement surgery
  • Total knee replacement: Performed on patients whose joints are severely damaged due to progressive arthritis, trauma or some other destructive joint disease
  • Hip resurfacing: A bone-conserving procedure that involves implanting a polymer socket, smoothing and reshaping the bone and then capping it with a ceramic femoral (ball) cap; generally, hip resurfacing procedures are metal-free.
  • Total hip replacement: An artificial joint is used to replace damaged cartilage and bone so the hip joint can move without pain; we do metal-free hip replacements as well.
  • Shoulder resurfacing: A more conservative, less invasive approach to traditional total shoulder replacement surgery where a surgeon smooths the arthritic surface of the shoulder and then places a new ceramic surface; generally, shoulder resurfacing procedures are metal-free.
  • Total shoulder replacement, also known as total shoulder arthroplasty: A total shoulder replacement done to decrease pain and discomfort

Robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery offers a cutting-edge approach that enhances a surgeon’s precision and potentially reduces your recovery time. This state-of-the-art technology provides our surgical team with a 3D anatomical scan of your joint’s immediate area. This allows the surgeon to plan the most optimal joint replacement implant location prior to the surgery.

Some benefits of robotic surgery could potentially include:

  • Improved precision and accuracy
  • Minimal scarring
  • Possibility of faster recovery
  • Reduced pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Smaller incisions

With the ability to customize surgery to your unique anatomy, robotic-assisted surgeries can help optimize your surgical outcome so you can get back to moving pain-free.

Doctors will typically recommend non-surgical treatments first, such as bracing, injections, medications or physical therapy.

If those haven’t brought you relief, you might be a good candidate for surgery if you’re still experiencing:

  • Limited mobility, from arthritis or joint deterioration
  • Pain during rest or sleep
  • Persistent pain that’s interfering with your daily life

If joint pain is affecting your quality of life, contact our team about surgical options and next steps.
