Ultrasound At First Hill

Swedish First Hill Ultrasound is located on the 4th floor of the east tower. From the main lobby take the east elevators to the 4th floor. Check in at the reception desk by the window. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., however the ultrasound department is open 24 hours a day for emergency department exams. Some Outpatient Ultrasound services are located in Suite 615 of the Nordstrom Tower.

We do not validate patient parking.

Radiology services can only accept orders from a licensed provider. There is an OB Ultrasound order and an Ultrasound order for all other exams. We would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Swedish First Hill Ultrasound offers specialty-trained radiologists, known as sonologists, who specialize in interpreting and performing ultrasound exams. We have leading-edge technology and a caring staff that are committed to patient safety and comfort. Our department is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and our sonographers are registered in at least two specialties with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Most of our Sonographers also have their nuchal translucency certification in addition to other specialties within the ultrasound field. Meet our doctors.

What to expect before your exam at Swedish First Hill Ultrasound:

You should receive a reminder call regarding your appointment 1-2 days before your appointment. If you are not able to keep your appointment please feel free to reschedule at that time. You may ask any questions regarding your appointment. If your questions cannot be answered at that time, the supervisor will call you back prior to your appointment.
Please arrive at the 4 East receptions desk 15 minutes before your appointment time to complete registration paperwork. Please bring photo ID and insurance cards.
Please wear loose and comfortable clothing that will be easy to put on and take off.
Parking is available in the Swedish parking garage accessed from the front of the hospital at 747 Broadway. We do not validate parking.

What to expect the day of your exam:

Please check in at the 4 East reception desk (follow radiology signs) unless otherwise instructed.
A receptionist will register you and ask you to sign a hospital consent form. Copies of your photo ID and insurance cards will be made.
You will be escorted to the ultrasound exam room by your sonographer.
You may be asked to change into a patient gown which we provide for your exam. We encourage you to leave any unnecessary valuables at home.
Family members are welcome to join you during your exam.
A warm clear gel will be applied to the skin, which works with the ultrasound probe. The gel will not stain skin or clothing and will be removed with a towel after the exam.
When the sonographer is done scanning, he or she will show your images to a radiologist. These will be reviewed before you leave. Occasionally additional pictures are required before you leave. Do not be alarmed, it is all a part of getting the most complete and accurate ultrasound possible.

Exam Results

A board certified radiologist will interpret your images and create a report for your doctor. Reports are sent to your doctor within 8-24 hours. Please contact your doctor for results.
