Our Approach
If you’re being treated for cancer, or are a cancer survivor, you may be at increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease. The Swedish Cardio-Oncology Program provides comprehensive and compassionate cardiovascular care to patients living with or who have survived cancer.
We aim to optimize your cardiovascular health prior to cancer treatment, screen and treat heart disease during cancer treatment and lower your risk of developing heart disease in cancer survivorship.
Our team consists of board-certified cardiologists and cardio-oncologists who work closely with other subspecialists within the Providence Swedish Cancer Institute and the Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute to provide comprehensive care. Your care team will work together to offer the latest diagnostic techniques and advanced treatment options that are right for you.
By combining medical expertise and advanced treatment techniques, our team treats a wide range of cardio-oncology conditions, including:
- Arrhythmias
- Cardiac tumors
- Cardiomyopathy and heart failure
- Coronary artery disease
- Hyperlipidemia
- Hypertension
- Myocarditis

- Valvular heart disease
The approach to treating heart disease during cancer treatment – or due to cardiotoxic effects of cancer treatment – is often different than other forms of heart disease. There may be unique concerns to consider if you’re about to start, are currently in or have recently completed cancer treatment. Our team conducts a comprehensive evaluation and creates a personalized care plan for you.
