Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Support Group
Cardiovascular services are provided at our main facility at Cherry Hill and at multiple locations in King, Snohomish, Clallam and Grays Harbor Counties.
Swedish hosts quarterly Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) support group meetings for patients that have an implantable defibrillator system. The group is known as the Jumpstarters and was established in the late 1980’s after the first ICDs were placed. The group is open to patients, family, friends, and caregivers. You do not need to be a Swedish patient. The meeting provides ICD patients the opportunity to learn about cardiac illness and device based care. The group allows you to meet and share with others who have been through similar experiences.
The goal of the support group meeting is to allow you to become more comfortable with having an ICD by alleviating fears and concerns through education and group discussions. We meet quarterly on the third Thursday of the month. There is always an educational presentation followed by time for questions and talking to others. Refreshments are provided – no RSVP required.
For questions regarding the ICD support group contact Donna Gerity, RN, MN, CNS, at 206-320-4558.
