In 1910, Dr. Nils Johanson saw the need for a first class, nonprofit hospital. He convinced ten fellow Swedish immigrants to buy $1,000 bonds and established a 24 bed hospital.
Today, more than a hundred years later, Swedish Health Services, a not-for-profit organization includes five hospitals, two ambulatory centers and Swedish Medical Group with more than 100 primary and specialty clinics.

Swedish is the largest, most comprehensive, non-profit health provider in the Greater Seattle area and has consistently been named the area’s best hospital, with the best doctors, nurses and overall care in a variety of specialty areas. Swedish has received Leap Frog and Healthgrades quality awards.
