MyChart Information for Physicians
Physicians: The charts below show a comparison between the type of medical information released by inpatient and ambulatory clinics with Epic EHR, and timing for such release.
MyChart offers patients secure online access to portions of their medical record. A patient may request a MyChart account through their ambulatory provider’s office (provider must use Epic electronic health record (EHR)) or in the hospital or emergency departments. Once a patient has a MyChart account, information from both ambulatory visits and hospital stays will be available.
The chart below shows a comparison between inpatient and ambulatory clinics (with Epic EHR) of the type of medical information released and other MyChart features:

The following table shows the timing of when specific test results and medical information will be released for viewing in MyChart. It is essential for providers to be timely in their review of test results to ensure they have been studied prior to the results being released to MyChart. It is very important that any ‘significant’ abnormal result be communicated with the patient in a timely manner.
