Providence Swedish Orthopedics opens at First Hill
The new Swedish Medical Group clinic provides a full range of orthopedic inpatient and outpatient services and procedures.
Patients want — and expect — access to comprehensive, interconnected health care services and a holistic, seamless experience with their clinicians. That’s why we’re excited to welcome Providence Swedish Orthopedics, a new Swedish Medical Group clinic which opened its doors September 18 on the Providence Swedish First Hill campus in Seattle.
Providence Swedish Orthopedics treats a variety of conditions, including ailments of the hand, knee, hip, shoulder, and spine. Providence Swedish experts at the new clinic also offer treatment of musculoskeletal tumors. Located on the sixth floor of the Swedish Orthopedic Institute (SOI), the clinic features:
- 11,526 square-foot of clinic space
- 15 exam rooms
- 2 X-ray suites
- Dedicated space for hand therapy
“Our location within SOI conveniently allows us to provide a full range of orthopedic inpatient and outpatient services and procedures all under one roof – from medical appointment to surgery to pre- and post-operative care,” said Laura Whittington, RN, MSN, senior manager of clinic operations.
Among the clinic’s staff of caregivers are five employed physicians who practice at the clinic alongside a dedicated team of health professionals. They are:
- Christopher Cannon, M.D., musculoskeletal oncology and total joint replacement
- Christopher Hein, M.D., hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery
- David Ibrahim, M.D., total joint replacement
- Sean Keem, M.D., MBA, minimally invasive spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, and artificial disc replacement
- Daniel Schwartz, M.D., shoulder surgery
Growing our outpatient services
The last decade has seen inpatient procedures and services in every specialty and subspecialty shifting to outpatient facilities — this includes many orthopedic surgeries. Over this time, Providence Swedish has continued providing acute, inpatient orthopedic care to patients at SOI. We are extremely proud of the high-quality care at SOI, and to remain competitive and serve all our patients effectively, we need to provide our orthopedics patients with the same seamless access to outpatient services that is available to other patients within the Swedish network.
