Dr. Fengting Yan is a 2021, 2022, & 2023 Seattle Met Top Doctor Award winner. Dr. Yan is interested in personalized care and translational research in women’s cancer. Extensive lab and clinical research knowledge are applied in her "bench-to-bedside" approach to patient care. Dr. Yan also has years of experience in public education on women’s health through internet and TV talk shows.

Dr. Yan is a medical oncologist and a wife, mom, daughter and sister. She strives to care for her patients as she would her own family members. Because every patient is unique, she uses state-of-the-art tools to tailor treatment plans to fit their individual needs.
When not at work, Dr. Yan enjoys biking, cooking and distance running. She has an appreciation for the perseverance it takes to accomplish personal goals, and hopes to run a marathon on all seven continents.

The care, attention, time and kindness I receive from Dr. Yan far exceeds any other doctor I have ever encountered, and I am 75 years old. It is a great loss for Swedish that she will no longer be working there.

Dr Yan always responds quickly through myChart with test results or follow-up questions. I have commented before, however, in these surveys about how uncomfortable it makes me when she enters the room and hugs me. In these situations, I'm sitting in a very thin gown and do not feel that this is an appropriate greeting, especially when I am reluctant to return the hug. I also find that my time with her is tangential and she seems to have a hard time staying on topic. Rather, she spent 10 minutes this visit sharing personal stories not at all relevant to my care. I find myself restricting any communication to her in the appointments for fear of sending her off into another story. I was also disheartened that she did not seem to recall the details of a recent breast MRI that I had last May and I had to remind her of the radiologist's recommendation for a follow-up MRI. Needless to say, I will not be following her to Fred Hutch when she leaves and will look forward to finding a new oncologist in the Swedish system.
