Breast Center
Swedish Edmonds offers conventional digital mammography as well as digital breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3-D mammography. With tomosynthesis, an X-ray beam sweeps through the breast in an arc and takes pictures of multiple “slices” of breast tissue. A radiologist then looks through the series of images. Digital tomosynthesis allows the detection of small abnormalities that may be hidden by normal breast tissue. It also allows the radiologist to tell the difference between a clump of normal tissue and a true mass. All breast imaging performed within the Swedish Breast Centers is provided by dedicated professional staff credentialed in breast imaging.
The Swedish Edmonds Breast Center is proud to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). By awarding facilities this status, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
In addition to mammography, the Swedish Edmonds Breast Center provides the following tests and procedures:
- Breast ultrasounds
- Breast core biopsies
- Breast cyst aspirations
- Stereotactic breast biopsies
- Breast localizations
- Galactograms/ductograms
If you are a woman age 40 to 64 with no health insurance, you may qualify for a free mammogram.
