Our Approach
The Providence Swedish Cancer Institute medical-oncology team includes physicians, oncology nurses and other oncology specialists with many years of experience treating a wide variety of cancers.
Our physicians treat patients with the most current anti-cancer drugs and treatment protocols available. Many medical oncologists here are also involved with promising clinical research treatments — ranging from national research trials to locally based studies they have initiated themselves.

We’re one of two health care systems in Washington state that provide CAR T-cell therapy and one of a few programs nationally that provides histotripsy, a treatment that destroys tumors without surgery.
Patients have access to hundreds of clinical trials involving most cancer types. We are often among the first in the U.S. to provide access to Phase 1 trials — the first stage of evaluating treatments in humans.
