About Martha L. Short
I have been working in neurosurgery in the Seattle area since 2002, and movement disorder neurosurgery since 2005. I work at a center with incredible surgeons, neurologists, and supporting staff. My current position, as senior practitioner in the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) clinic, is my favorite. I love seeing the difference in patient’s lives before and after their procedure. I believe that well informed patients have an easier time going through their treatment.

Martha goes above and beyond in efforts to encourage, educate and solve the issues I face.

This survey is not geared for my visits to Swedish. My main "provider" is on the Peninsula. I see Martha Short for follow-up sessions regarding the programming (using my Boston Scientific remote) for my DBS surgery of 2025. She is expert at tweaking the amplitude and frequency to minimize side effects and maximize tremor control. She is thoughtful, respectful, caring, and brilliant.

My appointment with Martha Short was extremely helpful. After she listened to me, asked me questions, tested different settings then she changed my DBS programming, and my hand tremors have been much improved these past weeks.
