Robotic Surgery Program
Swedish was among the first in the Northwest to perform robotic surgical procedures. We began using the daVinci Surgical System for prostate cancer surgery when it was approved by the FDA in 2005.
Since then, Swedish surgeons have amassed a wealth of robotic experience in urology and gynecology. What's more, they were the first in the Northwest to use this new tool for complex operations for lung cancer, colorectal cancer and others.
More than 4,000 robotic procedures have been performed here – and medical centers across the region have followed our lead.
Many of our surgeons remain among the most experienced in the country. They train others from across the U.S., and participate in research to expand the use of this remarkable tool.
