Injectables
Injectable fillers and Botox are a safe, effective and minimally invasive alternative to facial cosmetic surgery for men and women interested in facial rejuvenation. They give reasonably good results with short recovery time and few after effects. Injectable products work by adding volume underneath the skin and providing a firm foundation for surface tissues to lie smooth and unwrinkled again. Most of these products provide results for six to nine months.
Botox® is best used in the wrinkles between the eyebrows, the forehead and the “crow’s feet” around the eyes. It works by relaxing the muscles that create these lines and softening the wrinkles. It lasts four to six months and must be repeated to maintain effect.
JUVÉDERM is FDA-approved to treat all skin types and colors and its base product is hyaluronic acid - a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. Its primary use is in lips and the creases in the lower face. It lasts six to nine months and needs to be re-injected to maintain its fullness.
Scuptra Aesthethic: As a collagen stimulator, Scuptra revitalizes collagen production within the dermis restoring your skin’s inner structure and volume. Rebuilt collagen strands gradually help restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.
Juvederm™ Voluma™ is the latest of the Juvederm range of hyaluronic acid fillers specifically designed to restore volume in areas of volume loss. Common areas include the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. Additionally, due to its versatility it is also suitable for adding definition to the jaw line.
While the benefits of injectable fillers and Botox can be impressive, a combination of procedures may be required to rejuvenate the entire face. Many women and men complete their facial renewal with face or neck lift and or eyelid surgery. Our office also carries the Obagi Nu-Derm skin care system which consists of prescription-strength ingredients that penetrate deeper into the skin resulting in smoother and firmer skin.
The Obagi Nu-Derm Non-Invasive System
The Obagi Nu-Derm System consists of prescription-strength ingredients that penetrate deeper into the skin and affect the cellular processes. As the years pass, the processes that keeps your skin looking vibrant slow down. Dead, dull surface cells longer while younger cells remain buried in deeper layers. The flow of moisture slows and skin pigmentation is distributed unevenly. For most people, the result is a tired, aged complexion sporting fine lines, laxity, hyperpigmentation and areas of dryness.
The Obagi Nu-Derm System helps speed up cell turnover, encouraging dead, dry skin to slough off and fresh new cells to emerge. In the process, your skin's texture looks and feels smoother and firmer. Skin color evens out, with freckles, age spots and sun damaged areas becoming lighter. Moisture improves, so your skin looks fresh and healthy. You'll notice visible results in four to six weeks.
While the benefits of Obagi can be impressive, a combination of procedures may be required to rejuvenate the entire face. Many women and men complete their facial renewal with face or neck lift and or eyelid surgery. Injectable fillers and Botox are also a safe, effective and minimally invasive alternative to facial cosmetic surgery. They give reasonably good results with short recovery time and few after effects.
Skin Peels
A chemical peel improves both the appearance and the health of your skin. Chemical peels remain the most frequently used, most versatile and efficient way of resurfacing. There are many variations in what chemical agent is used, but all peels involve the application of a solution that removes the upper layers of skin. The damaged skin separates from the deeper layer and peels off in a few days or weeks, depending on the depth of the peel. The resurfacing process takes advantage of the body’s healing capacity as fresh new skin from the deep layer replaces older damaged skin.
The most commonly used superficial peeling agent is glycolic acid. It is a subtle rejuvenescence. After the treatment the skin is brighter and some superficial skin growths have been removed. It is not particularly helpful for fine lines and pigmentation.
A medium peel creates brighter skin and can have greater effect on fine lines. The Obagi® Blue Peel system, is a TCA-based peel (trichloracetic acid) that's safe for all skin colors. It can improve lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, large pores and acne. It can even have a beneficial effect on skin laxity, and it can be used on the hands and chest as well as the face. Many peels are not considered safe for people of color. The Obagi Blue Peel is an exception - it is used successfully on all skin types. Medium peels usually have 2-3 days of inflammation followed by peeling over 7-10 days.
Deep peels are very selectively used for problem areas, like acne scarring. A peel that is too deep can overly bleach the color of skin and leave the texture leathery.
While the benefits of a skin peel can be impressive, a combination of procedures may be required to rejuvenate the entire face. Many women and men complete their facial renewal with a face or neck lift and or eyelid surgery. Other non-surgical procedure for patients with deepening folds and wrinkles to consider is an injectable filler or BOTOX®. Our office also carries the Obagi Nu-Derm skin care system which consists of prescription-strength ingredients that penetrate deeper into the skin resulting in smoother and firmer skin.
