Low BMI Adjustable Gastric Band
Adjustable gastric band surgery is an option if you have a BMI between 30 and 35 (typically 35 to 75 pounds overweight), and at least two obesity-related medical conditions. If you’d like to proactively manage your weight gain and prevent health conditions associated with excess weight, you may want to consider this elective procedure.
The benefits and risks are the same as traditional adjustable gastric band surgery. The difference, however, is that low BMI surgery is performed in an outpatient setting, and you’ll go home the same day. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the procedure for low BMI patients, so you’ll have to pay for it out-of-pocket.
