Newsweek ranks Swedish among best U.S. maternity hospitals

On May 10, Newsweek released its annual list of the best maternity hospitals in the United States.

Providence Swedish First Hill and Providence Swedish Issaquah received the highest ranking of a five-ribbon rating in Newsweek’s 2023 America’s Best Maternity Hospitals.

The list includes 384 hospitals divided into two performance categories. A total of 159 hospitals received the five-ribbon rating. Newsweek's ratings are based on three data sources: a national survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals that asked them to recommend top maternity hospitals; hospital performance data related to maternity care; and patient satisfaction data.

"At Swedish, we take pride in serving all birthing people in our community and beyond with comprehensive, compassionate and high-quality care," said Tanya Sorenson, M.D., executive medical director of the Providence Swedish Women's and Children's Institute. "We will continue our commitment to strive for excellence and equity in all we do."
