About Charles S. Hummel
Dr. Charles S. Hummel, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.O.G. is the Senior Medical Director for Women’s Health at Swedish Medical Group, Providence Swedish. He holds both a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology and an M.D. from UCLA. Dr. Hummel has extensive clinical and leadership experience in obstetrics and gynecology, previously at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, where he focused on patient safety, high reliability organizing, and initiatives to improve health equity and efficient operations in women's health services. He has also been actively involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education, with a special focus on growing professionalism and collegiality. Dr. Hummel's family has deep roots in Seattle, and he, along with his wife and two young boys, is excited to return to the area, especially to enjoy the fun of summertime. He looks forward to joining the Providence Swedish family and extending successes while helping to foster growth in women’s health
