About Rebecca M. Allen
Dr. Allen graduated with a B.A. in Psychology with honors from Stanford University. She attended Oregon Health and Science University for medical school where she also earned a Masters of Public Health in biostatistics and epidemiology. She completed psychiatry residency at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program, a joint program between Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Massachusetts Mental Health Center. She served as Chief Resident of the psychiatry consult service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She then went on to complete a 2-year fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Allen has participated in research on sleep and memory consolidation, quality of life in multiple sclerosis, and other projects. She has authored several papers. Her main clinical interest is neuropsychiatry: she is trained in the neurobiological bases and treatment of cognitive, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases (dementia), multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, stroke, brain tumors, developmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and other disorders. Other clinical interests include electroconvulsive therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and the interaction between sleep and psychiatric disorders
