About John R. Stevens
I feel health care is ideally a team effort between patient and provider. I value the importance of knowing a patient beyond the diagnoses in their medical chart in order to provide customized care for the individual. Each patient has their own narrative that shapes how they may best effectively engage in preventing and managing illness. I believe in the education and empowerment of patients and their ability to make their own decisions surrounding their health. My interests in medicine include underserved populations, pediatrics, chronic disease management, mental health, addiction medicine, and obstetrics. I am a board certified in Family Medicine and am a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Washington Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Ever thing has been great

Dr. Stevens is kind and easy to talk with. The receptionist(s) who checked me in & scheduled my next appointment were courteous and pleasant. The woman who led me in to the Drs. Office, took my BP, instructed me to provide a urine sample, and instructed me to remove my shoes for foot exam seemed unfriendly. The visit overall was fine.

I like everything about my care provider except the location. Swedish used to have a clinic on Bainbridge Island where I live, but they closed it down. Now I have to make a four hour commute by ferry (two hours each way) to see my doctor at the clinic in Ballard. This is a major inconvenience especially when I am sick or if the ferry is running late.
