Shelia Kandeler, CD

Shelia trained as a doula with the Bastyr University Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations in 2011. This training, coupled with a Masters in Social Work, 10 years experience as a La Leche League leader, and a passion for offering unbiased, unconditional support to birthing families allows Shelia the wonderful opportunity to positively affect not only the birth of a baby but also of a family. Shelia hopes that by nurturing expectant families in pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum she can help birthing people and partners to experience emotional success in birth and establish a foundation of confidence as they begin their parenting journey. In addition to the honor of attending families as a DONA certified birth doula, Shelia serves expectant families as a certified childbirth educator with Great Starts, a program of Parent Trust for Washington Children. When she is not laboring or learning with pregnant people and partners, Shelia enjoys hanging out with her husband and three daughters, running a weekly soup kitchen, lifting weights, and playing guitar.
