About Kels Cook
Kels is a non-binary and neurodivergent birth worker with perinatal training from the Shafia Monroe Consulting Full Circle Doula training program, and continued education from Birthing Advocacy Doula Training in topics like abortion care, Disability and birth work, and Crisis Response and birth work. They believe that everyone who wants to be a parent is deserving of dignity, care, and respect throughout their perinatal experience regardless of weight, disability status (apparent and non-apparent), neurodivergence, queer identity, or past trauma. They believe in informed consent, and design their approach to center the accessibility needs of people who are neurodivergent, including dyslexia, sensory processing needs, and beyond. When not doing birth work, Kels’ interests include pursuing their education in Geography and Labor Studies at the University of Washington, loving on their senior animals, reading and listening to podcasts, connecting with community and friends, and exploring new recipes with their partner. They are a passionate disability and reproductive justice advocate, and especially excited to serve individuals and families with lived experiences at the intersections of disability, neurodivergence, traditional and non-traditional relationship models, and gender identity. There are so many joyful and affirming ways to experience childbirth and the months that follow, and Kels is excited to work with you, your support network, and medical care team with an equitable and non-judgmental approach. $1200
