I believe that women are the most powerful people in the world. They deserve to be celebrated every day. We birth the babies, nurture the families, tend to the home, work to provide stability; and do so with grace and compassion. Pregnancy, birth, and overall maternity is such a joyous and exciting time for a new or growing family. As your doula, I will be there for you every step of the way. Ensuring your comfort, and empowering you to recognize the strength you carry in the birth room and beyond- into your role as a mother to your new baby. It is my goal to provide support, knowledge, and resources to help a family have the birth they want and feel good about it. From a young age, I’ve known I was meant to do work that was meaningful for me, and my community. I learned through working as a Flight Attendant for five years that my favorite part about that job was conversing with women and families, holding babies, and talking to moms about pregnancy and breastfeeding. In fact, I loved it so much that I left flying to pursue my passion in birth work. I became a Certified Breastfeeding Peer Counselor through King County’s Best Start for Kids, completed the DONA International Birth Doula Training through The Simkin Center, at Bastyr University, as well as holding a seat as a Parent Advocate for Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP) where I work towards bridging the gap between healthcare providers and BIPOC families- finding new ways to connect and learn through my own lived experiences. I believe that I harness a gift that is meant to be shared with others, and providing a service like being a doula would be a way to channel this gift while fulfilling a passion that is sacred to me. I have had the honor of experiencing what it’s like to give birth with a doula in the room. My doula reminded me of my strength when I needed it the most. She lifted me up, when doubt started to arise. It was my confirmation, after I gave birth (as well as attending others) that this is what I was made to do.
