Charity Care (Free and Discounted Care)

Swedish's mission is to improve the health and well-being of each person we serve. A crucial part of fulfilling this mission is Swedish's financial assistance charity care program. In 2016, Swedish provided more than $21.6 million in direct financial assistance charity care for our patients. 

Swedish's financial assistance charity care program:

  • Offers free or discounted hospital stays and services for those in our community who cannot afford care, are unable to pay, or are underinsured or have no insurance at all
  • Provides financial assistance in cases where annual family income is between zero and 400 percent of the federal poverty level
  • Offers a simple instruction and application process in multiple languages  
  • Ensures that financial constraints are not a barrier to the provision of care

As a nonprofit organization, Swedish relies heavily on community partnerships and the support of those who believe in our nonprofit mission of providing the very best care to every person we serve — regardless of their ability to pay.
