Swedish Community Specialty Clinic

Mon - Fri: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Our clinic provides specialized medical and dental services at no cost to low-income underinsured and uninsured patients.

The Swedish Community Specialty Clinic was developed in partnership with Project Access Northwest. Together, we help patients who are unable to receive specialized medical care because of their inability to pay for their medical expenses.

At Swedish Medical Community Specialty Clinic, we:

  • Provide another resource for those who have no other options for specialized care.
  • Combine various services under one roof including access to electronic health records.
  • Serve as a dedicated space in Seattle for volunteer doctors and dentists to meet with patients.
  • Provide support staff to help maintain physician schedules and set initial visits and follow-ups.

Charity care is a core part of Swedish’s nonprofit mission and we are committed to finding ways to meet the health care needs of patients regardless of their income.

Volunteer doctors and dentists from Swedish and other medical groups provide various medical and dental services at no cost to low income, uninsured and under-insured patients in Seattle, including:

  • Dental (extractions)
  • General surgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Occupational therapy
  • Orthopedics
  • Podiatry
  • Pulmonology
  • Rheumatology

Medical

If you are new to our clinic and would like to see a doctor, please follow these steps:

  • See a primary care physician at any of the accepted family medicine clinics to determine if you need to see a medical specialist.
  • Ask the primary care physician to fax your medical referral form, supporting chart notes, imaging/lab results (if completed), and Project Access Northwest enrollment form to Project Access Northwest directly at 206-382-3507.
  • Call Project Access Northwest at 206-788-4559 for questions or want to confirm that your referral was received. Project Access Northwest will link you to the appropriate specialist and provide follow-up case management services.

Dental

If you are new to our clinic and would like to see a dentist, please follow these steps:

Our clinic would not be able to provide the medical and dental services to low-income patients without doctors, dentists, and community members who donate their time and services. If you would like to volunteer at our clinic in Seattle, we could use your help.

Doctors

If you are specialist who can provide any of our services at no cost to low-income patients at our clinic, email Stacy Hammonds, Clinic Manager.

Dentists

The Swedish Community Specialty Clinic (SCSC) operates a dental extraction clinic in partnership with Swedish Medical Center along with the Seattle-King County Dental Society and Foundation. The SCSC provides oral surgery services including simple extractions, surgical extractions, impacted tooth removal, biopsy services and pre-prosthetic surgery to low-income individuals who have no other access to care.

The priority of the SCSC is to keep patients out of the local Emergency Departments by providing a much-needed oral surgery resource for the Community Health Centers.

We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable with a wide array of dentoalveolar surgery. All volunteers must be credentialed at Swedish Medical Center. Credentialing requires, GPR or specialty level training. Full or half days are available. Volunteer participation fulfills up to seven annual hours of continuing education credit under WAC 246-817-440 – one credit for each hour volunteered.

Like all hospitals, Swedish Medical Center requires all providers to undergo a credentialing process. Volunteers can also choose to have their assistants credentialed, although experienced assistants are provided at the SCSC. Swedish is waiving its credentialing fee for all dentist and assistant volunteers.

Clinic Volunteers

We need volunteers for administrative duties such as answering phones, rooming patients, scanning documents and stocking items. We require a minimum volunteer commitment of six months. For more information and how to apply, contact Swedish Volunteer Services Department; call 206-320-2090 or send an email.
