Professional Statement

Dr. Hendershott earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She held a research fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City as well as a breast surgical oncology clinical fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Hendershott is a fellowship trained breast surgeon who has a special interest in the management of breast cancer at the extremes of age, genetic and familial breast cancer as well as the care of triple negative breast cancer patients. She has special training in "oncoplastic" techniques focusing on the cosmetic outcomes of cancer care. In addition, she has expertise in the use of partial breast radiation techniques for appropriate patients. Dr. Hendershott has won awards for both research and medical education and has presented at national conferences. Dr. Hendershott strives to provide personalized care for her patients tailoring the treatment plan to meet their specific challenges and needs. Breast care is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach while working with patients so they understand their disease. The ultimate goal is cutting edge care coupled with warmth and understanding. A former New England All-American soccer goalkeeper, Dr. Hendershott is an avid fan of the sport. She also enjoys reading and travel.
