Dr. Cairns is an overall excellent provider of medical services for myself. While I did have some general questions and concerns he was able to answer them in manner that was both professional and friendly. This always makes my time with Dr. Cairns extremely beneficial and enjoyable.

Dr. Cairns is amazing. I am really pleased to have him as my PCP. He listens very well, he is very knowledgeable and I feel like he really cares about me and my health.

The issue wasn't necessarily how much time he spent with me but the content of what he was saying. After asking me a few questions he told me he would subscribe some pills for me that I would have to take for 6 months for some acid reflex I was experiencing. I thought that was extreme, and felt he didn't do due diligence in really diagnosing what I have before taking extreme measures especially when I didn't even come in for this issue. On the issue that I actually came in for, which was experiencing some rash, he spent less than half a second looking at it, before subscribing some pills again. I didn't feel like I got the proper exam, he didn't touch the skin, or ask any additional questions. He looked at one area of the rash and automatically subscribed pills for it. I understand he is a doctor and trained for this, but his quick response didn't make me feel confidence in his knowledge about what is truly wrong with me.

After asking for a prescription, and being refused, he further would not recommend a mental health professional that might.

It appears that there was a misunderstanding around provider's recommendation for medication, specifically antibiotics -- when my condition did not improve over the weekend, I spoke with the triage nurse for my regular provider -- she told me that Dr. Cairns' notes indicated that I had refused antibiotics -- I do not recall that he recommended antibiotics -- rather he prescribed prednisone -- had he suggested antibiotics I would have definitely accepted that recommendation. My regular provider subsequently prescribed the antibiotics. Given that I had fever and was feeling ill, I may have missed Dr. Cairns' communication regarding antibiotics. My regular provider always gives me printout of visit notes and reviews his recommendations before I leave, a practice which I think helps to avoid misunderstandings.

Dr. Cairns is not my primary physician but was filling in for my physician when he was out sick. Dr. Cairns was amazing, friendly, and personable. He made me feel very comfortable and confident of the quality of care that he was providing as interim. I would recommend Dr. Cairns to anyone. He is one of the best around.

Dr. Cairns is by far the best GP I've ever had. in fact, I've never actually had one for long because there wasn't much of a connection with others. I always felt rushed so they could get the next patient/$$$. on the first visit I immediately felt at ease and was able to tell him my history and he never treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. he never seemed annoyed or rushed to leave. he took his time and would listen when I needed to talk about things bothering me. I have referred two people to him since I first started seeing him in December 2015. I plan on seeing him for everything for a very long time. and if he ever left, I would follow him (not that he's leaving, I hope)

Please note that this was my first time seeing Dr. Cairns and I had to discuss several medical items with him and rushed him to cover everything during my limited time in order to get back to work.

[...] Dr Cairns saved my life. I'd seen asst least a couple dozen Drs in the previous two years, to hear reportedly, "Go home, drink plenty of file, and wait for it to go away." Yes, that's a quote. I heard that repeatedly from nurses, Drs, and hospital staff, as my health deteriorated. Dr Cairns listened to, and heard me. He took the extra steps necessary to find out what was wrong with me & fix it. At the point Dr Cairns told me that he would not give up on me; that he wouldn't abandon me, my life-expectancy changed dramatically. I'll never forget what this man did for me, both physically & emotionally. I couldn't be more grateful.

I tell everyone what great medical care I get and from where. I'm from the northwest (Chicago) and moved here in 2011. The medical care I get from all my providers is like night and day from the care I got back home.
