Our physicians are specialists in menopause and gynecology. Working with a specialist who can balance immediate needs and long-term goals and health risks is key to optimal health and wellness.

Menopause does not necessarily require treatment – it is a natural part of life. For women who have symptoms that impact their quality of life, however, there are good options including alternative therapies (such as lifestyle changes, supplements and herbal products or acupuncture), hormone therapies and other medications. These therapies are tailored to each individual woman based on her symptoms, needs and risks. Symptoms of menopause include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Mood swings
  • Weight changes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Fluctuations in sexual desire or response
  • Short-term memory loss or “brain fog”
  • Achy joints
  • Frequent urination or leaking of urine

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend you have an exam annually. Some women get a breast and pelvic exam with their primary care doctor, and do not need to see a gynecologist. But these exams should be done every year. We are happy to see you for these. We are also available for any concerns. Screening tests like pap smears may become less frequent in this age range, but this depends on your history and is a discussion between you and your doctor.

It can be one of the safest interventions for menopausal symptoms! Not every woman needs hormone therapy, but if you are very symptomatic, please come talk with us about the data and research into long term risks and benefits of HRT. We now have the data from 20 year follow up of the WHI study, as well as other large studies, and can give better estimates of risk and personalize this discussion to your personal and family history

Please come see us! No woman should live with painful sex and we have many interventions to help which include medications, physical therapy, laser therapy and sometimes surgery. We will work with you to find the best pathway to pain free intercourse.

Our gynecologists and urogynecologist team can evaluate you for prolapse and discuss options for management and treatment of prolapse.

We start by determining if the bladder is what is waking you or other symptoms. We can then work with you on lifestyle and medication options to reduce this sleep disturbance.

Many women experience incontinence as they age, especially if they have had children. You do not have to live with it. Our physicians can talk with you about medical and surgical solutions.
