Organ Transplant Fellowship

The Organ Transplant Program at Swedish Medical Center is looking for candidates for its 2-year, ASTS approved fellowship in kidney transplantation starting August 2016. In addition to kidney, the fellowship will include liver and pancreas transplantation as well as hepatobiliary surgery. Annually, between kidney, liver and pancreas, the Swedish Organ Transplant Program performs over 130 transplantations and over 50 hepatobiliary procedures. Transplant-focused research, both clinical and basic science, is encouraged with faculty support.

During the course of the 24 month program fellows will obtain in-depth experience in transplant management: organ procurement and preservation; living donor and recipient surgery; evaluation and listing of prospective transplant candidates; and post transplant care and immunosuppression management.  Fellows will also gain additional experience in advanced hepatobiliary surgery.    Transplant-focused research, both clinical and basic science,  is encouraged with significant support and faculty mentorship available to the fellow.

Interested applicants should be board eligible or board certified in General Surgery and hold or be eligible to obtain a full State of Washington medical license.
