April 08, 2020

Swedish Health Services is pleased to have reached agreements with SEIU 1199NW on new contracts that cover more than 7,700 represented employees of Swedish Medical Center and Swedish Edmonds. The contracts reflect Swedish’s organizational values and its deep commitment to its people and the communities it serves.

The new contracts provide caregivers market-leading wages and benefits, including wage increases of 13.5% over the life of the contract, affordable health care benefits and new zero-premium health coverage for full-time employees who earn less than $60,000 in annual income from Swedish.

The contracts also include strong commitments for Swedish to work with its front-line caregivers regarding staffing, and they support our commitment to a more cohesive partnership with our union colleagues moving forward.

“I am grateful that we came together to finalize these agreements so we can support our patients, our community and each other during this unprecedented COVID-19 crisis,” said Swedish CEO, Dr. Guy Hudson. “We appreciate Governor Inslee’s leadership in bringing our two sides together to find a solution we can both support.”
