A diagnosis of breast cancer sets into motion a whirlwind of appointments, tests, surgeries and possibly chemotherapy and radiation treatment. A new study reviewed the timeline between surgery and initiating chemotherapy for different subtypes of breast cancer and found a survival advantage when chemotherapy was initiated within 30 days of surgery. Although treating within the 30-60 post-surgical window did not show a statistically significant survival advantage, there is a trend towards better outcomes. Exceeding 60 days post treatment had a negative impact on survival. The clinical impact of timing is most relevant for patients with stage II and III breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer and HER2-positive tumors.

Treatment for breast cancer can be exhausting and take a toll on the physical health of patients as treatment ends and they begin post-treatment life. Cancer...

After my initial diagnosis and as I was referred to Dr. Wahl, I had heard high praise about her. Oh my gosh - all that praise was so true. Dr. Wahl is a REAL person - caring not only about my medical needs, but my emotional well-being during treatment, and my care and happiness now that treatment is over. Chemotherapy is a very difficult thing to go through. I pray I never have to again. But Dr. Wahl was such a support, helping me through all the changes that happen - nausea, hair loss, eyelash and eyebrow loss, fingernail issues, anemia, and so much more. That care goes both ways, and I wish the best for her too.

Dr. Wahl's approach to discussion is very good. She looks at me, pays attention to what I said, remembers my challenges, and goes back over what she said without hesitation or annoyance if I ask for clarification.

The provider is a specialist (oncology) so I would only make the recommendation if someone were looking for oncologist. I would make recommendation for the cancer clinic at Swedish-Issaquah.
