I have already recommended Dr. Patterson to two of my friends.

physician unable to help even though he knew issue.

Dr. Patterson is very good to talk with, he values my opinions & is creative in trying to help me.

An emergency came in during my appt., so he had to cut short..

Probably will not refer others because it takes to long to get an appointment.

Swedish Hospital is very lucky to have Dr. Patterson as a member of their staff. He is thorough, compassionate, and very understanding.

The first time I met with this provider, it seemed like he didn't believe me / thought I was only there because I was unhappy with a previous diagnosis. He was upset that I didn't have the results of an endoscopy that helped diagnose me, but I thought they would have contacted my previous doctor's office ahead of time to obtain the records. It was really frustrating talking to him for the first 20 minutes during my initial visit. Until he suddenly "believed me" and actually started to explain things and gave me hope that we could come up with a plan for my treatment. This time was a follow-up, so he was much more easy going. Again, explained things well, but for the hour I was in the clinic (30+ minutes waiting), he was only in the room with me for about 5 minutes. Seemed like I could have done it over the phone. He clearly knows what he's talking about, but I would only recommend him if someone had the same diagnosis as I do.

This is the first GI specialist I went to that is "FINALLY" doing something to try to figure out what is wrong. Treats me respectful & like an adult.

I do not like the fact that he didn't know my medical history and didn't have my previous test results. I am even less comfortable with the fact that he didn't order those results and records, didn't order any new tests, and opted instead to put me on medication straight away without any honest knowledge if he's treating the right thing or not. When I told him I'd had previous adverse reactions to medications in that family, he put me on it anyway.

I did not feel that Dr. Patterson saw me as a whole person...didn't feel like he explored enough avenues and he had narrow advice and took me to a scheduler and went and sat in his office (where I could see him from scheduler desk) and did not give any closure to our visit. I reached out and said good bye to him.
