Professional Statement
I specialize in diagnosis and nonsurgical treatments of spine, musculoskeletal and nerve issues. I perform various therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including spine injections, ultrasound-guided joint and soft tissue injections, and nerve studies (EMG). Successful treatments rely on not only the proper diagnosis, but must also factor in your lifestyle, comorbidities and expectations. I favor conservative approach whenever feasible, and injections are not always the right option. Many of my patients improve substantially without any invasive treatments. Physical therapy tends to play a big role for many of my patients. I aim to deliver the utmost in nonsurgical treatments, while always keeping in mind what is best for my patients.

[...] Dr. was very good

I felt I was dismissed as a malinger because my problem isn't straight forward. I came with the goal of defining what is causing my pain, learn how to improve it, and returni to my usual state of fitness with less pain and sleep disruption. He made me feel dumb for erroneously asking if the source was coming from my SI joint instead of my hip. He did send me to the right place, and I feel the treatment plan will be effective, which I am grateful for.

Was somewhat frustrated in that it felt like provider was unable or unwilling to engage in big picture conversation about my overall condition- was somewhat intervention focused, and didn't take a very holistic approach. But it may be that I should have been referred to another type of specialist...

Dr. Kobayashi is very engageable with me & my medical needs.

I didn't feel that the severity of my issues was understood/acknowledged and didn't feel heard about the input on my treatment plan.

Very Clinical, did not provide short term pain relief medication prescription. Prescription provided was called into mail order service without my knowledge which delayed medication for 5 days. Medication for pain relief was requested after a week and provided to the local pharmacy I selected

He has a bad bedside manner. I felt I was being talked down to. I asked him to be more pleasant, and he didn't say he was sorry - he said didn't "wasn't" being unpleasant.

Seemed to ignore other symptoms but they may not have been relevant. Dr. was very thorough & patient otherwise.

[...] I felt it was too long of a wait to get my appointment in with the amount of pain I was dealing with.

I was so dissatisfied with the care provider that I have since left and got a second opinion with [...]. I will continue using Swedish - with my family doctor.

I left feeling like he had no idea at all what the cause of the problem was. His diagnosis appeared to be more of a guess that wasn't supported by my medical history or the medical history of any of my relatives. Further, the x-ray seemed like a waste of time/money when, if anything, the only test that w/h made sense was a MRI. Subsequently, the physical therapist was able to take the necessary steps to properly diagnose what the most likely causes of the knee problem were. I have confidence in the PT, but not the doctor's diagnosis. The PT used language that made sense and was supported by the available facts after manipulating my knee and hip in various ways.

Every body very good.
