The Swedish Breast Centers network makes it convenient and comfortable for you to take care of all of your breast-health needs. Through our screening and diagnostic sites as well as our mobile mammography program, you’re assured of a comprehensive range of care designed to meet your unique needs.

All locations are equipped with the latest technologies such as full-field digital mammography and all breast imaging performed within the Swedish Breast Centers is provided by dedicated professional staff credentialed in breast imaging.

Unlike traditional film-screen mammography, digital mammograms produce images that can detect the most subtle signs of cancer including tiny spots in breast tissue called microcalcifications. Using special, high-resolution monitors, a radiologist can adjust the brightness, change contrast and zoom in on digital mammograms for close ups of specific areas of a breast. The images appear on the monitors in a matter of seconds, so there’s no waiting for film to develop which can mean a faster diagnosis for the patient.

In addition to digital mammography, the Swedish Edmonds Breast Center is provides the following tests and procedures:

• Full-field digital screening and diagnostic mammography
• Breast ultrasounds
• Breast core biopsies
• Breast cyst aspirations
• Stereotactic breast biopsies
• Breast localizations
• Galactograms/ductograms

Swedish Breast Care Center performs more than 10,000 procedures annually and is proud to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). By awarding facilities this status, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

Personalized Cancer Care from a Nurse Navigator
Swedish Edmonds Breast Center offers patients a special service -- a breast health nurse navigator. The Swedish Edmonds nurse navigator is a registered nurse who assists patients with making sense of their cancer diagnosis – educating patients and their families on what their unique diagnosis means and offering supportive care in all aspects of their treatment to help decrease anxiety.

The navigator works closely with radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, and the primary care doctor to make sure that the entire team is on the same page when formulating a plan that will provide the exceptional medical care that the patient is relying on.

“As a nurse, I have 25 years of helping people deal with sudden crisis and assisting them beyond the initial shock of diagnosis, through their entire treatment course” says Michele Stewart, RN, breast health nurse navigator at Swedish Edmonds. “I want the patient to know they’re in control of their cancer care, to encourage them to collaborate with physicians to decide on the best treatment options and to know that I’ll be by their side every step of the way.”
