Nonsurgical Weight Loss at Swedish/Edmonds
All successful endeavors start with a clear goal. For weight-loss programs, it’s easy to think of that goal only in terms of pounds or size. But for patients in our nonsurgical weight loss program, good health is the ultimate measure of success.
How Our Program Works
First and foremost, we begin with an initial assessment of your specific needs. We will customize a plan to address your health needs and life challenges. As part of the plan, we will also collaborate with you and other specialists so that your overall medical care is coordinated.
Long-term success is a result of ongoing support. Our program is led by board-certified endocrinologist, Elena Geamanu, M.D. Dr. Geamanu and the staff of Swedish Edmonds Specialty Clinic provide regular weigh-ins, medical follow-up and educational materials designed to help you lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. You may have tried short-term diets; our program is meant to help you establish positive habits that work for a lifetime.
A Condition That Requires Medical Solutions
Excess weight is a complex, chronic medical condition that requires long-term medical solutions. Recent scientific research has revealed that fat cells work like glands, secreting many potent hormones that regulate:
• Insulin efficiency
• Further fat accumulation
• Energy levels
• Mood and mental focus
• Risks for other life-threatening diseases
The foods we eat, the choices we make, the medications we take, the reactions we have to life’s stresses — all interplay with our genetics and impact what hormones our fat cells secrete and what messages they give to our bodies.
In just the first few months, most of our patients experience a significant weight loss and many see significant changes in their waist measurement. You will learn how to maintain your new weight and health for years, with periodic check-ups and continued healthy habits.
