Lung Cancer Screening Team

Lung Cancer Screening Team

Who is part of the multidisciplinary lung cancer screening team?

At the Swedish Cancer Institute we want to deliver the best care possible to our patients. Given the complexities of screening for lung cancer, it is important that it is performed in the context of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and quality care. We have 12 years of experience screening for lung cancers and have been leaders in research laying the groundwork establishing the importance of lung cancer screening; we feel strongly that screening must include qualified radiologists who are familiar with the details of CT screening for lung cancer, as well as a care team that includes thoracic surgeons, interventional pulmonologists, medical oncologists, expert lung pathologists, and thoracic surgery nurse practitioners.

This multidisciplinary team was carefully created to offer a comprehensive approach to screening for lung cancer and to assess the needs and risks of patients with tobacco exposure. This team approach with years of experience make us uniquely qualified and equipped to further work up lung nodules, reduce unnecessary concerns, create effective medical and surgical plans while delivering safe and effective care to our patients who are at risk for lung cancer.
