Swedish is pleased to announce the opening of the Swedish Bariatric, Metabolic, Endocrine Center located at 1124 Columbia Street, Suite 400, Seattle, WA 98104. This new center is the first in the region to offer integrated weight loss, endocrine, diabetes and nutrition services in a single, collaborative space.
People who are obese have a new treatment option for weight loss: the intragastric balloon. The intragastric balloon is different from other bariatric (weight-loss) treatments because it doesn’t require surgery, and it’s a temporary treatment, usually lasting about six months.
Dr. Judy Chen and Dr. Brian Sung have been certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine as ABOM Diplomates - representing the highest level of achievement in the medical specialty of obesity medicine.
Most of us have heard the term, “the obesity epidemic,” and we are affected by it each day. Some of us have had personal weight struggles or have watched a loved one struggle, and all of us have been affected by the food industry’s constant flood of conflicting nutrition and diet information.
Richard Lindquist, M.D. and medical program director of Swedish Weight Loss Services was named Bariatrician of the Year by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) in October.
Lindquist, who serves on the ASBP Board of Trustees, accepted the award in Denver during a ceremony attended by more than 500 obesity medicine specialists last month. Bariatrics is the branch of medicine responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of obesity.
