Show Off Your Beautiful New Baby, in Person or in Photos.
Having a baby is a momentous occasion, and family and friends will want to share in your joy and meet your new special someone. Swedish offers flexible visiting hours so you can decide who visits and for how long. All we ask is that they check in at the nurses’ station before entering your room to make sure it’s a good time to visit. They should also be free from any colds or infections and wash their hands before holding the baby.
As much as we love seeing happy families come visit, we do recommend that you not have too many guests at the hospital. You’ll be very tired after giving birth and you need this short time in the hospital to rest and recover as much as possible. Ask your loved ones to visit after you come home — and to bring a meal with them!
Swedish has several gift shops, from traditional flowers and cards to specialty baby items.
Professional photos are a great way to capture the early days with your baby. We offer optional photos through Bella Baby Photography at our Ballard, Issaquah and First Hill campuses, and through Growing Families at our Edmonds campus.
Your Bella Baby photo shoot will take place in the comfort and privacy of your hospital room. Afterward, you can have the photos posted to a password-protected site for sharing and ordering. They’ll be available for 14 days after the photos are taken. Each photo can be ordered in black and white, color, or sepia.
Tips for a great photo shoot:
- Bring a special blanket from home and wrap your baby in it during the photo shoot.
- Parents’ hands are often incorporated into shots. Wear clear, neutral, or no nail polish to keep the focus on your baby.
- Moms and dads should bring a solid black, brown or grey shirt to wear in photos where they are holding the baby. These shots look nice in color or black and white.
At our Edmonds campus, your baby’s photo can be posted on our Web Nursery site (with your permission, of course) so loved ones near and far can take a peek. For security reasons, each baby’s photo will be listed by the mom’s first name and last initial. The Web Nursery service is provided free of charge.
