Meet Our Dieticians

Edmonds

Megan Ellison, registered and certified dietician

Megan Ellison completed her Bachelor of Science in Food & Nutritional Science at Seattle Pacific University and her Masters of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics from State University of New York at Oneonta. She is involved in her local and state dietetics associations and served as President of the North Sound Dietetic Association for 2011-2012. Megan enjoys individualizing each nutrition counseling session to help her clients reach their nutritional goals. Teaching classes at the hospital and in the local community is another highlight for Megan and she is also currently an Adjunct Instructor at Seattle Pacific University. Megan’s interests include yoga, music, gardening, preserving food, sharing meals and frequenting local farmers’ markets.

Katy Prichard, registered and certified dietitian; certified diabetes educator

Katy graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutritional Science from Central Washington University and completed her dietetic internship at Oregon Health and Science University. She worked as inpatient dietitian before deciding to specialize in diabetes. She became a certified diabetes educator in 2009 and enjoys counseling individualizes on lifestyle changes to help improve quality of life. She is involved in her local dietetics association. Katy enjoys cooking, running Greenlake and participating in local charity races throughout the Puget Sound area.

Brian Higginson, registered and certified dietician


Brian Higginson developed an interest in nutrition when he was exposed to naturally-raised foods at a very young age. He received a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Connecticut, and completed his dietetic internship at Marywood University in Scranton, Penn., in 2000.

Brian enjoys teaching community classes and helping individuals to make lifestyle changes that enable them to reach their nutritional goals. His interests include cardiovascular health, diabetes, weight loss, digestive disorders, maternal health, organic/local foods, and providing cooking demonstrations.

First Hill

Alana Holmquist, registered and certified dietician


Alana Booth graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a dietetics specialty and completed her internship at the New York Institute of Technology.

Her primary areas of interest include neonatal and infant nutrition, pediatric weight management and general pediatrics. Alana joined the Swedish Pediatric Nutrition Care Clinic in 2002, and focuses on addressing the diverse nutritional needs of children from birth to adolescence.

Issaquah

Nicole McLean, registered and certified dietician

Nicole McLean, RD, CD, graduated from Bastyr University with her Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. She is committed to a wholefoods philosophy and believes that through a balanced and individualized approach,small, sustainable life changes can be made both for the prevention and treatment of disease. Nicole understands the importance of staying up-to-date with evidenced-based nutrition practices and enjoys translating the scientific into simple-to-understand concepts. She looks forward to supporting and empowering new and existing clients in their endeavor for wellness.

Erin Hoge, registered and certified dietician

Erin Hoge, MS, RD, CD, joined Swedish in November 2011 with the opening of the Issaquah campus. She earned her Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Washington in 2009, and brings experience from various hospital settings in the Puget Sound area. Erin loves the challenge of translating the scientific research in food and nutrition to real-world, practical applications that help clients achieve goals and improve overall health. She is looking forward to meeting clients in the new Issaquah Nutrition Clinic.
