CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery
CyberKnife® Radiosurgery at the Swedish Radiosurgery Center
CyberKnife® is a type of stereotactic radiosurgery. It is, in fact, the world's first and only robotic radiosurgery system.
Although CyberKnife may sound like surgery – it isn’t. Rather, it is a type of radiation therapy that uses computerized, robotic equipment to deliver beams of high-dose radiation from multiple angles to precisely target and destroy tumors. It is accurate enough to target small and complex tumors anywhere in the body.
At the Swedish Radiosurgery Center in Seattle, our radiosurgery team uses CyberKnife to treat cancerous and noncancerous tumors in the brain, breast, head and neck, kidney, lung, liver, pancreas, pelvis, prostate, spine and other parts of the body.
With CyberKnife, there is no scalpel, no anesthesia, no pain, no hospital stay and no recovery time. Patients usually wear street clothes during their treatments and return to their normal activities when their treatments have been completed.
