MOUTH OFF TO CANCER! Speaking the Truth About Head and Neck Cancer

Join us for an evening to honor the head and neck cancer journey. Come share in speaking and hearing the truth about head and neck cancer, finding support, and learning about available resources. All who have been touched by head and neck cancer are welcome to join us. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Meetings to Support Head & Neck Cancer Patients, Survivors, Family Members and Friends 

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer, Inc. (SPOHNC), a patient-directed self-help organization, was founded by an oral cancer survivor. Join the monthly meetings offering information, support and encouragement to newly diagnosed oral and head and neck cancer patients, survivors, family members and friends in a friendly and non-threatening forum.

Support Group

The Swedish Cancer Institute offers a variety of support groups. The groups provide an opportunity to meet with others having experiences similar to your own. Each group is facilitated by an experienced Swedish Cancer Institute support group facilitator and are open to all people in the community.

Head and Neck Cancer SymposiumThird Annual Pacific Northwest Head, Neck and Thyroid Cancer Symposium: Update on Head and Neck Skin Cancers

This symposium was designed to bring up-to-date scientific information to clinicians involved in the care of patients with head and neck skin cancer. During each session, attendees were exposed to new concepts and management protocols indicated in a variety of head and neck skin cancers. This included insight into diagnostic techniques such as sentinel lymph node biopsy, reconstruction of head and neck defects from skin cancer treatment, innovation in radiation delivery and new paradigms in medical oncologic treatment of skin cancers and squamous cell carcinoma. This symposium enabled participants to work in multidisciplinary teams to apply the newly acquired knowledge, new techniques and more sophisticated protocols to maximize benefits to head & neck skin cancer patients.

Second Annual Pacific Northwest Head, Neck and Thyroid Cancer Symposium, April 6, 2012

This symposium was designed to bring up-to-date scientific information to clinicians involved in the care of patients with head, neck and thyroid cancer. A multidisciplinary panel of experts discussed the most recent clinical innovations in their respective fields. These experts fostered discussion in order to expand the knowledge, skills, and performance of the participants. During each session, attendees were exposed to new concepts and management protocols indicated in a variety of head, neck and thyroid cancers. Among others, topics included minimally invasive laser and robotic surgery, management of side-effects of current chemoradiation protocols, innovation in radiation delivery, and new paradigms in thyroid cancers. Our goal was for participants to be able to apply the newly acquired knowledge, techniques and protocols, to maximize benefits to their cancer patients.

Annual Oncology Symposium - Head and Neck Cancer, May 7, 2010

This symposium was designed to expand the knowledge, skills and performance of clinicians involved in the care of patients with head and neck cancer. During each session, attendees were exposed to new concepts and up-to-date management protocols indicated in a variety of head and neck cancers. This includes insight into the epidemiologic aspect of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) induced cancer, updated concepts on organ preservation protocols and technological innovations in radiation delivery. This symposium also highlighted new and proven surgical techniques, such as Transoral Laser Microsurgery, that have significantly changed the management of select head and neck cancers.
