Certified as a Primary Stroke Center by a national health-quality agency, the Swedish/First Hill ER can take care of patients experiencing stroke symptoms with swift and often life-saving treatment. Swedish is the first medical center in western Washington to earn this distinction.

Recently ranked in the top 10 percent nationwide for customer satisfaction, the Swedish/First Hill ER includes:

  • 18 exam rooms
  • One quiet room
  • 24/7 diagnostic services
  • X-Ray and CT in the ER
  • On-site lab
  • Wireless technology (monitors, patient and staff tracking and bedside registration)
  • Discharge instructions in large print and other languages
  • TTY for hearing impaired

For obstetric-related emergencies, Swedish has expert physicians and nursing staff on site, 24/7. The Swedish/First Hill ER also includes a dedicated Pediatric ER. For critically ill or injured children, a pediatric hospitalist (a physician who specializes in inpatient care of children) is on site 24 hours a day and is available for ER consultations. When necessary, the hospitalist will admit patients to our pediatric inpatient unit.

Social workers experienced in emergency care are available at the First Hill campus ER seven days a week, 18 hours a day.
