The Swedish Cancer Institute offers patients with pancreatic cancer the expertise of highly trained physicians and other cancer specialists, complemented by an integrated approach to care, leading-edge imaging and diagnostic techniques, state-of-the-art treatment options and a wide selection of quality support services.
Swedish offers the most effective surgical techniques to treat cancer of the pancreas and other gastrointestinal cancers, such as cancers of the colon and liver.
Adenocarcinoma is a type of cancer that begins in the cells that line the glands and ducts within the pancreas and accounts for 90 percent of pancreatic cancers, though other types of cancer, including islet cell neoplasms, also originate in the pancreas. To determine the best treatment options available for pancreatic cancer, it is important to first determine where in the body – the liver, bile ducts, etc. – the cancer may have spread.
