Position SummaryMedical Director of Movement Disorders
Additional InformationAbout the Movement Disorders Program At the Swedish Neuroscience Institute (SNI), the Movement Disorders program offers a comprehensive range of services for adults and children, from diagnostic testing and innovative medical and surgical treatments to dietary consultations, compensation techniques, rehabilitation and follow-up support. The multidiscipline Movement Disorders team includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, psychiatrists and pain management specialists, as well as physical and speech therapists. Social workers are available to help patients navigate their treatment plans, and counselors to help with coping and financial issues. In this collaborative environment, all specialists focus on making the patient experience as integrated and compassionate as possible. The program offers a broad scope of treatment options so patients care plans are fully personalized. Treatment options include: medications, injections (such as botulinum for blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, cervical or spinal dystonia or spasticity), gait and balance training, and rehabilitation and physical therapy. Neurosurgeons evaluate patients who have exhausted medical therapies for minimally invasive neurological restoration interventions, such as deep brain stimulation or stereotactic radiosurgery. These procedures can help restore function and quality of life. CONDITIONS TREATED Ataxias Dystonia Essential tremor Huntingtons disease and other diseases associated with chorea Parkinsons disease and atypical parkinsonism Restless leg syndrome Tourette syndrome and motor tics Recorded CME Conferences Movement Disorders: Medical Management of Parkinsons Disease and Essential Tremor November 9, 2012 Overview and Management of Parkinsons Disease September 14, 2012 Parkinson's and Parkinson's Plus Syndromes: Current Trends in Diagnosis and Treatment December 15, 2011 Gene Therapy for Parkinson Disease October 20, 2011 Strategies to Manage the Complex Parkinson's and Refractory Tremor Patient September 23, 2011

Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

This doctor is as smart as can be - she is a wonderful doctor. The only reason I wouldn't recommend her is that she is already busy and I don't want to make her any busier.

Dr Witt has been amazing. She always tries to explain things well and ALWAYS asks if I have any questions or additional concerns I want to talk about. She also always gives me options for my treatment plan...and while I almost always defer to her because of her expertise, it is so nice to be considered part of the process. I also really appreciate the fact that Dr Witt laughs with me and shares conversation about life with me. It helps put me at ease.

Dr Witt is competent, friendly and kind. I trust her to provide the best care and to help me understand the prognosis of the care choices she has given me. She allows me choices in my care while guiding me to consider choices she thinks would be best. I trust her and believe she treats me like family, not just another patient I feel blessed that Dry Witt has been my caregiver in this health journey I have been on.
