Breast Cancer Survival Guide: Physical & Clinical Updates

February 07, 2014

A diagnosis of breast cancer sets into motion a whirlwind of appointments, tests, surgeries and possibly chemotherapy and radiation treatment. A new study reviewed the timeline between surgery and initiating chemotherapy for different subtypes of breast cancer and found a survival advantage when chemotherapy was initiated within 30 days of surgery. Although treating within the 30-60 post-surgical window did not show a statistically significant survival advantage, there is a trend towards better outcomes. Exceeding 60 days post treatment had a negative impact on survival. The clinical impact of timing is most relevant for patients with stage II and III breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer and HER2-positive tumors.
Treatment for breast cancer can be exhausting and take a toll on the physical health of patients as treatment ends and they begin post-treatment life. Cancer...

Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

The provider is a specialist (oncology) so I would only make the recommendation if someone were looking for oncologist. I would make recommendation for the cancer clinic at Swedish-Issaquah.

Always a very positive experience for me at this very busy clinic!

Have been very impressed with Dr. Wahl's knowledge and an excellent replacement for Dr. [...].

Doctor is poorly informed on my very rare cancer and often gives me poor advice.

This was my first visit with Dr. Wahl and I was so pleased with care.

Dr Wahl is a first rate, highly professional and compassionate provider. I would highly recommend her and feel blessed that I was referred to her.

I continue to be so impressed with the care and concern shown to me!

Dr Wahl is a great doctor, I trust her implicitly with my health care and recovery.

This is my second round with breast cancer. While dealing with the news of the type of cancer I have, I knew I wanted to be back under Dr. Wahl's care. She is always forthcoming with information, yet is positive and friendly. She is a bright light in the world on oncology.

Completely lost confidence in T. Wahl after her ignoring CT results & even though it didn't change the final outcome it meant I went 18 mo. w/o treatment. Tried another clinic but since they offered the same treatment, I went back Dr. Wald because she is closer.

Dr. Wahl is the greatest.

I love and trust Dr Wahl. I can't imagine going through what I went through with any other oncologist . She's the best and cares deeply about her patients.
