Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

Our family feels very lucky to have Dr. Szalay as our provider. We are thankful for his level of compassion, patience, and how he listens carefully to our questions. He makes our whole family feel very comfortable and cared for. He goes above and beyond to provide the best quality of service. We would highly recommend him to other families.

He is easily the best and favorite doctor I've had in my life. I have already told many friends about him and recommend him. Listens to what I say and what my concerns are and directs treatment in a way that I feel like we are a team.

When recently changing insurance the deal breaker was being able to keep Dr Szalay. He is awesome. He not only listens but remembered things from a few years ago. I have always been very impressed with him.

He did an amazing job!

I was worried and he validated my concern. They made me feel the plan and close follow up would take care of everything.

always good

[...] I've never had such an unpleasant experience with a physician- rushed and disinterested from entry into exam room, rude/flippant bedside manner, mixed messages regarding best practices for me moving forward [...] He was ondescending and distracted and I had to ask him to sit down, close the door, and please answer some questions I had re: prognosis. I've had such positive experiences at Swedish but this experience was very negative. I won't see him again [...]

Love my Doctor.... Very Smart and very kind.

I could not believe it at first when the doctor told me he thought I had a hernia. But he was absolutely right and referred me to a General Surgeon to make sure [...]I got in to a General Surgeon the very next day and lo and behold- it WAS a [...] hernia. Thanks to his accurate diagnosis, I am scheduled for surgery next week to fit it!

Dr. Szalay is the most caring person. Always guides me to the right choices to maintain good health. Thanks to his TLC..

Wish we could have discussed potential long term problems a bit more (e.g. what signs should I look for to see if this cold is developing into bronchitis?) [...]

my doctor showed genuine concern for my health, instructed me to email him via MyChart the next day. A nurse responded in a timely manner and I came in for a follow up appointment. The doctor immediately recognized that a specialist was needed and found me a same day appointment at a local specialist's office.

I have from the first been very satisfied with the relatability, expertise, skill and resourcefulness of Dr Szalay. He remembers previous issues and challenges in my life and relates them to current conditions. I have had a few surprising (to me) health experiences, and he has met them with great competence and inspired my enduring confidence.

Very easy to talk to, doesn't talk down to me. Explains pros and cons to treatments and drugs. Open to my concerns.

Dr. Szalay is the reason I choice the insurance and the clinic I use. He provided care in the past then I transferred to a company that only paid for [...]. When I was in a position to choose my own medicare provider I went back to Dr. Szalay and the insurance that was taken at Swedish.

I had initially gone to an urgent care provider, because I injured myself in the middle of a holiday weekend. The other provider didn't listen to observations I made about my injury and hastily dismissed many of my concerns. It was very refreshing to come to this provider, who took the time to pay attention to my observations and addressed the concerns I had.

Dr. Szaly is a great doctor and I will recommend him to relative & friends.

Again, the doctor was very interested in the diet/lifestyle program that I am following to lower my cholesterol, and very encouraging and supportive of the positive results that I am achieving.

Had an underwhelming bedside manner.

Dr. Szalay is always very thorough and personable. He never gives the impression of being pressed for time, and wants to be sure he understands any issues or questions you may have.

The doctor seemed rushed and would not allow time to discuss all of my health concerns. It felt like he was ushering me out the door so he could move on to the next patient. The only solution he gave to my issue was prescribing a medication that has not worked in the past.

Dr. Szalay is always on time and is never rushed. He is respectful and allows as much time as I need. He has been my Doctor for many years and I hope for many more.
