Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

verhy good experience

I have nothing but admiration and loyalty toward Dr. Spence. I would drive from Camano Island, and now Snohomish, to see her even for routine exams. She is thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate, understanding and advocates for her patients! [...] is just as incredible! She is just as caring and is also understanding of my drive; thus she tries her best to accommodate me whenever the schedule allows. Both Dr. Spence and [...] go out of their way for my entire family. Without them telling me, I know they have missed their lunches in order to fit myself, or a family member, into their busy schedule. I highly respect them and recommend them to all of my family and friends!

Excellent doctor.

Although I have had positive experiences in the past, I feel Dr. Spence was fairly dismissive of me on this visit. She seemed rather abrupt and made me feel as if I was being judged harshly for my actions related to my health. While I take responsibility for my personal health, I felt frustrated and saddened by the treatment I recieved. It was as if my efforts were of little consequence and Dr. Spence determined a tough approach would yield positive action. Too bad I'm motivated by a more open and caring approach. I'm highly educated and can reasonably understand and adhere to treatments and instructions. I need a guide and coach. I do not need a punitive and harsh approach. I'm hopeful this was an isolated occurance and my health care services can remain at Swedish.

Dr. Spence is the best doctor in the universe.

Dr. Spence is FANTASTIC and an exceptional provider. I absolutely LOVE seeing her and her colleagues - Dr. [...]. What a team. And boy do I feel WELL CARED FOR and RESPECTED as part of the practice. I would refer any friends or colleagues to them at any time. (I think you should plan to clone both of them to ensure care for generations to come)

In many instances, I am perhaps a thorn in her practice during my visits. I have no challenges in asking questions and getting answers--also no challenges in questioning conventional answers that I am aware she must give and abide by. Regardless of my questioning, however, her sense of humor with me, and her patience more often than not, are valuable guides to my understanding of my health challenges, and more often than not--in following her direction.

I didn't realize I was getting two prescriptions. I thought there was just one that was called in. [...]

[...] I am extremely pleased with my doctor. I feel like she cares about my health and well being. I never feel rushed and she always answers any questions I have. She is thorough, knowledgeable, kind, caring, and friendly. She is the best doctor I have ever had!

At a previous visit, the provider was very rude to me. I was hurt and told the nurse in charge. She apologized. This time it was very good. So I am waiting to see how it goes.

Dr. Spence is a good listener and really works to communicate in a way that is respectful.

Dr. Spence is great at asking questions, providing answers and really listening.
