The education I received provided me with a strong foundation of high-quality care upon which I continue to build. An important part of that care includes communicating effectively with my patients in order to educate them about their individual condition and treatment options, thereby empowering them to make informed decisions. Patients often worry that seeing an orthopedic surgeon means they will have surgery. In reality, less than 10% of my patients ever require surgery. With the help of my certified physician assistant, Jeffery Fernandez, PA-C, I am able to help the great majority of our patients with a multitude of nonsurgical treatment options. Simply put, I am a very conservative surgeon and I only use surgery as a last resort. When I meet with colleages in my field, we constantly brainstorm developing the latest, most effective treatment techniques. Especially intriguing to me are the incredible advances we continue to make in the area of technology, which enable me to do operations in a less invasive manner.
