Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

The provider is a very knowledgeable Doctor and Surgeon, however, at times the provider can be unempathetic to the patients concerns. For example, if I have a list of post-surgical symptoms that I am experiencing, and would like answers to why I may be experiencing them, and how long I should expect to experience them, the provider tends to minimize the concerns and not provide an answer as to why I may be experiencing them. The provider doesn't seem to handle a patient that has done their research on their condition, and would like to share the examples of what they found, and ask questions about the information. Overall, I realize that not all Surgeons can be great at surgery and also great with the empathy that is needed to care for people, it would be nice to have a little more courtesy given when I have concerns about a procedure that I am having done, or the recovery process.

There was a follow up test recommended and possible surgical procedure (two different possibilities) It would have been helpful to have a printed handout about the procedures and exactly what is involved to help make decisions and to decide on the timing.

The scheduling of the pre-op exam was less than organized. I had to call twice to find out when the exam was to take place. [...] I feel that the office should have done this without my having to ask.

though there was an opening for surgery, this surgeon was also leaving town shortly thereafter on vacation…I chose to wait until he could be reachable after such a serious operation

Dr. kept us waiting in the exam room for 60 minutes. [...] Although the receptionists got me in quickly, I was not impressed with the surgeon at all [...] He made me feel like he did not have the time to deal with me or my situation.

Doctor took time to give an in-depth discussion about the medical condition and what possible effects it may have. Doctor also spent time discussing how the medical condition would be resolved if we decided we wanted to resolve it. This doctor has been the only doctor I have seen that shared in-depth medical knowledge about the condition and was either a) knowledgeable about it or b) not dismissive of it/call the condition boring.

As much as is possible, I 'enjoyed' my experience. But I would prefer to never know or see any doctor ever. Its not that I dont like or appreciate you or what you do, because I very much do. But its like the fire department, what an amazing job you have but really dont want to understand it very much. Because its not usually good news...
