Dr. LaCombe started her medical career as a receptionist, phlebotomist, and then Medical Assistant in a hospital in Florida while pursuing her undergraduate pre-medical degree. She quickly realized that she did not care for the paternalistic manner in which many female patients were treated within the medical system. She observed patients legitimate symptoms or concerns being dismissed, or attributed incorrectly to stress, hysteria, or depression simply because the diagnosis was not clear to the physician. She felt that non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical options were often available, and yet not offered to patients. She vowed that she would be a staunch advocate for womens health, that she would always listen to her patients, empower them to participate in their health care decisions, and establish a compassionate, comfortable, and relaxed environment for patients to discuss all aspects of their pelvic and sexual health and well-being.
